Cookie Policy

Last updated: October 2026 · Chlorova (www.chlorova.com/)

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones https://www.chlorova.com sets, why, and how you can control them. It complements our Privacy Policy. Where the law requires consent before non-essential cookies are set (the EEA/UK under the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR), we only load analytics after you accept them via our cookie banner; you can withdraw consent at any time from the banner link in the footer of every page.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — localStorage and session storage — work the same way: small labelled entries your browser keeps for a site. "First-party" means we set them; "third-party" means another service sets them through our pages.

Strictly necessary storage (always on)

These do not require consent under any major regime because the Site cannot function as promised without them.

  • Theme preference: remembers whether you chose light or dark mode (localStorage, never expires on its own).
  • Cookie-consent state: remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics so we do not ask on every page load (first-party cookie, up to 12 months).

Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to learn which tools are used, where people get stuck, and what to build next. GA4 sets first-party cookies to identify a browser session — principally _ga (used to distinguish users, default lifetime 13 months) and _ga_<container-id> (used to persist session state, default lifetime 13 months). We configure IP-signal-only collection (no IP address logging), disable advertising features and do not use Google Signals or cross-site user IDs. Data is aggregated and pseudonymous: we are looking at patterns across thousands of sessions, not at you.

  • _ga — distinguishes returning browsers — 13 months — first-party.
  • _ga_* — persists session state — 13 months — first-party.
  • _gcl_au — not set; the conversion linker stays disabled because we run no advertising features.

What we do NOT use

  • No advertising or remarketing cookies, on this Site or through Google Analytics.
  • No cross-site tracking pixels or third-party social plugins that set cookies without interaction.
  • No sale or sharing of data derived from cookies — ever, in the CCPA sense of those words.

Third-party storefronts

Amazon links on the Site take you to amazon.com and its marketplace; Amazon sets its own cookies once you arrive there. Those are governed by Amazon's notices, not this one, and no affiliate link on our Site plants tracking cookies on your device before the click.

How to control cookies

Blocking strictly necessary storage will not break the calculators — they run entirely in your browser — but your theme choice and consent answer will reset between visits.

  • Cookie banner: accept or decline analytics the moment you arrive; change your mind any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.
  • Browser settings: block or delete cookies in Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge — deleting the consent cookie simply brings the banner back.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: install Google's official opt-out browser add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) to block analytics collection across sites.

Changes

If we add or remove cookies, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for consent again. The "Last updated" date above tells you which version applies.
